The winners of the
4th International 'Vernon Smith Prize' Contest
have been honored at a special ECAEF ceremony
in Vaduz (Principality of Liechtenstein)
on January 30, 2012

1. Prize (EUR 4,000): Caleb J. Miles, New Zealand
Title of his essay:
"Staat versus Rechtsstaat: Institutional Determinants of the Rule of Law"
2. Prize (EUR 3,000): Wolf von Laer, Germany
Title of his essay:
"The Decline of the Rule of Law & the Emergence of Regime Uncertainty"
3. Prize (EUR 2,000): Marta P. Mikluch, USA
Title of her essay:
"The Lost Consensus: Liberum Veto of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth"
The 4th International 'Vernon Smith Prize' Contest was sponsored and organized by ECAEF - European Center of Austrian Economics Foundation, Vaduz (Principality of Liechtenstein). Topic: "The Rule of Law in Decline". We invited papers on this topic from individuals of up to 30 years (a current CV is mandatory) who meet the ECAEF requirements. Papers in English may not exceed 12 pages including a comprehensive bibliography and a summary of max. 1 page. All entries have been submitted as pdf files (1.5 space, min. font 11pt., margins left/right) to ecaef@ecaef.li on or before December 18, 2011.
