Robert Nef

Robert Nef, a native of St. Gallen in Switzerland, studied Law at the University of Zuerich and the University of Vienna. From 1968 until 1991 he served as Teaching Assistant and Research Associate to Professor of Law Martin Lendi, who was Chair of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zuerich. In 1979 he also became head of the "Liberales Institut", one of the first fully independent think tanks in Switzerland. The "Liberales Institut" is located in Zuerich and is devoted to classical liberal thought and ideas and promotes the academic tradition of the Austrian School of Economics. As director of the "LI" Robert Nef serves as a well sought after speaker and edits the quarterly journal "Reflexionen". Since 1994 he is also the editor-in-chief of the famous and most prestigious monthly bi-lingual journal "Schweizer Monatshefte" for the cultural, political and economic issues of our time. Nef is a member of the Mont Pelerin Society and a host of other international learned institutions. His numerous publications include books, essays and articles related to the history of economic and legal thought, the Austrian School of Economics, Swiss internal issues such as defence and economic policy, the pension problems and the Welfare State.
